According to the English Proficiency Index in 2015, India ranked number 20 in the world for high proficiency in English – yet most people in the West assume that Indians cannot speak the language as good as a native from an English speaking country.

1. India used to be one of the richest countries on earth until the British invasion in the early 17th century. The Forbes 2016 World's Billionaire list revealed that India has over 80 billionaires.

2. Indians discovered water on moon through the first lunar mission Chandrayaan. India’s space program is also one of the top 5 space programs in the world.

3. The number system as we know today and use everywhere in the world originated in India.  The digit zero, the value of pi, trigonometry, algebra and calculus - all came from India.
